Saks joined California State University, Fullerton as the vice president for University Advancement in January of 2013. As the chief advancement officer for the university, his portfolio includes all units related to fundraising, strategic communications, alumni relations, community relations, government relations, parent relations and campus events. In his role, Saks also serves as the executive director of the Cal State Fullerton Philanthropic Foundation. Since his arrival to the university, the total gift commitments to Cal State Fullerton have doubled, as well as noteworthy increases in media and other stakeholder engagement.

Saks came to Cal State Fullerton with over twenty years of experience in advancement at both private and public institutions. Prior to his current role, he served as vice president for university advancement at Cal State Dominguez Hills for seven years and nearly nine years as the Executive Director of Development at Pitzer College, a member of the Claremont Colleges. He also held positions at Miami University in Ohio, Cal Poly Pomona, and Baylor University in Texas.

Saks holds a bachelor's degree in history from Cal State San Bernardino and a master's degree in higher education administration from Miami University. He and his wife, Ann, reside in Orange County with their children, Dean and Audrey.
