Kimberly Shiner brings to this role more than two decades of leadership experience as a successful higher education advancement professional. She most recently served as vice president for advancement and communications at Pitzer College. Previously, Shiner served as associate vice president for university advancement at Cal State San Bernardino. At CSUSB, Shiner played a key role in the university’s first comprehensive campaign, which exceeded its $50 million goal and was completed a year ahead of schedule. She also played a leadership role in securing the university’s largest cash gift of $10 million, which resulted in the naming of its College of Business and Public Administration.  

Prior to CSUSB, Shiner held leadership positions at USC, where she worked as a member of the leadership teams for the Keck School of Medicine, Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, and Government and Civic Engagement. She was part of two historic campaigns, raising $6 billion for the university and $2.2 billion for the medical school.

In addition to her extensive experience in higher education, Shiner has worked with communications firms in Los Angeles and Orange counties, conducting media relations and developing strategic plans for technology, consumer and health care clients.

Throughout her professional life, Shiner has distinguished herself as a passionate promoter of higher education and a champion of diversity, equity and inclusion. She has demonstrated a deep commitment to volunteering and service. Shiner currently serves on the board of Leadership California, a statewide nonprofit whose mission is to move women from success to significance. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and her master’s degree in public administration from Cal State Northridge.

In her spare time, she enjoys throwing great parties for friends and family, live music, binge-watching TV shows from the ’80s and ’90s and dancing. She also spends time with her husband Cedric at their organic chicken ranch in Barstow.
